Yosemite and More

Went to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo the other night with Friedhelm and Nancy to view the LUMINATURE exhibits. I was very pleasantly surprised. I didn't know what to expect but this was a really great outing. I won't comment on the individual images since I think they pretty much speak for themselves. A while back I went up to my home town for a small family reunion. While up there I took a stroll along the Mc Cloud River. This was my starting point, Lower Falls. The water is very cold but this is a popular swimming hole. This little guy was helpful by posing for me. I'm sure he was waiting for a tidbit to eat. Sorry. When I grew up we called these Golden Mantle Squirrels, I've since learned Golden Mantles are larger, the stripes go up to the face and are usually farther north. The Mc Cloud is a small river since this is near the beginning of the river. It gets much larger as it heads to Shasta Lake. It is actually larger than the Sacramento River when they reach Shasta Lake. The Mc Cloud River, Pitt River and Sacramento all contribute to the 'Sacramento River' below Shasta Dam. Shasta Lillies aren't hard to spot, but there aren't very many of them, so you feel lucky if you do spot one. If the lady I met on ...

I've never been very good a bird photos. They're usually too fast for me. But this macaw was very cooperative. Okay, so it was in a zoo, but there were still plenty of places it could  have flown to. It was in a very large aviary.  Go, See, Enjoy Dave

Don't tell my niece (she hates zoos) but I went to the Chaffee Zoo in Fresno the other day. I was lucky, got there early and it was still cool enough for this guy to be out and about. I had to shoot through a wire fence so I was surprised it came out as sharp as it did.  Love my Tamron 70-300mm lens. Go, See, Enjoy, Just don't tell Nicky. Dave More to follow. 

This was taken last week at the Merced Wildlife Refuge   We heard a lot of geese but didn't see any. They were all just off the Refuge and we couldn't find a way to get to them. So I decided to post this instead. Just like me a bachelor . Go, See Enjoy Dave
