Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Park

Image
It's been a while since I posted. I've even been out shooting a few times. Just haven't made the time to do the editing. So........I'll start with my last outing.  A couple of weeks ago a friend, Friedhelm, and I went to  Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Park. We went to Grizzly Falls, I decided I liked this image of the bottom of the fall most. On the way in to the fall I took the following photograph. I have no idea what happened or why it came out how it did, but I thought it was kind of cool I took this one among the Giant Sequoias, the sun was mostly down except at the top of the tallest trees. As we headed down from the high country  we came across the lights of the valley. I prefer the lights of the stars. If you look closely you can see a little of the Milky Way in the upper left corner. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Bodie at Night

Image
Here are some photos of Bodie at night. I didn't use any additional lights or flashes. All the light is from the moon or setting sun.  I did make  adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop. Go, See, Enjoy! Dave

Bodie after dark

Image
Last time I was in Bodie they let us stay until 10 pm. I don't do much night photography so I had to do a lot of experimenting. In this photo the light on the truck is provided by an off camera flash the buildings are dimly lit by the moon. This next one I 'painted' the building with a small hand held light.   I'll be going again in August when they have another late night. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

One of the main stops in Yosemite's high Sierra is Olmstead Point. This was shot at about 1:30am. With the moon to my right. Honestly I'm a bit disappointed, the stars where a lot brighter than this post indicates. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave
