Sequoia National Park

Image
I took a trip to Sequoia National Park on Tuesday. Sequoia is the second  National Park, established in 1890 after Yellowstone, I believe Yosemite was third. I left a little late, but it was still a great experience.  Did some hiking and just a little photography 😀 Most of my photos aren't of the trees, they tend to be a little hard to photograph. This one is from across a meadow. For reference see the people walking near the base of the tree. However there was a lot to photograph that weren't on such a grand scale. The meadow provided a lot of opportunities. The age old question ' What came first the boulder or the tree?' Nature heals itself though it may take many, many years. Yosemite, Snow and Black & White

Image
I went to Yosemite the other day just after a small snow storm. While there I visited the Ansel Adams Museum and it remined me of the power of Black and White.  I don't claim to have the talent of Ansel Adams but I like how these turned out.  Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

Eastside of the Sierras

Image
Recently took a trip to the Eastside of the Sierras in part to find some fall colors, and boy did we. It was a great day if not rather long. Also went to Bodie and  Mono Lake but that's for another post. This was our first stop, not bad!! I always like how the sun make the aspens jump with color when backlit. These leaves while not turned completely formed a nice heart shape. Aspens, Aspens, Aspens Aspen trunks seem to just grow any which way, and I like it. Many layers, Aspens, Pines, Mountains. Makes a guy who likes lines get a big smile. Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

Clouds and Almonds

Image
Looked outside from doing housework and noticed some enticing clouds. Got in my car and took a little trip. Low and behold the almond trees are in blossom. This is the result. Of course I took a LOT more than are posted here decisions, decisions!! Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

Yosemite in Winter

Image
Because my original work plans changed I decided to invite my photo pal Friedhelm  to head up to Yosemite with me on Tuesday after the Monday snow storm  and the promise of more snow to come. This was our first stop and showed us what kind of a day we were in for. To say I was excited would be an understatement A sneak peek through the trees This one leaf among the snow covered branches caught my eye. El Capitan, Snow, Merced River, you gotta love it It doesn't get much better than this Snow covered oaks, with Bridalveil Fall in the background. I've taken a lot of photos of the Chapel. Don't post many because I've taken a lot of photos of the Chapel. But in winter I just can't help myself. This is from Tunnel View, I know that since the snow fall  I'm the only one who took this angel because my footprints were the only ones in the snow. Just a bit of snow on the end of a pine needle. Should have gone back and gotten my macro lens, darn. As the light faded the s...

The Rogge Estate

Image
Went up to the Rogge Estate just outside of Marisposa in the Sierra Foothills  at the invitation from Wolfgang. I decided early on to shoot mostly in  Black and White, though there are a few color photos here. First thing you notice is the view. It's magnificent. This is, of course, darker to show the layers better I wondered why this branch grew the way it did. The woodpeckers used this dead branch to store a little food. This toad stool growing on the side of a tree caught my eye. This little guy might have to take a sharp turn if it plans on growing very big. Backlit wild oats against a dark background are always a good shot. Wolfgang is doing a lot of work around the place. The gears on this cement mixer at sunset caught my eye. Wolfgangs loyal companions Teddy and Wolfie, both 15 years old, were a  little shy about posing. Last but not least is just after the sun set. Thanks Wolfgang!
