Yosemite and More

My part time job took me to the North Coast a while back. After fulfilling my obligations I took a little me time andphotographed the Eureka area, Redwoods and Lithia Park in Ashland Oregon. This bunch is of the North Coast. My first nights stay was in Eureka, I just finished dinner and decided to take a little drive. I waited about a half hour for this sunset to develop. Went back to work the next morning, afterwards I headed up the coast and stopped along  the way to take some coast shots. I'm not a sandy beach kind of guy. I like the rough and  tumble of the rugged North Coast. Okay so the following are of a fairly tame area of beach. I liked the contrast of this one large  rock in a large area of beach. Incidentally this is the only rock of it's kind that I could see and it was quite a bit away from any cliffs. My first post of 2019 coming in February is pretty sad. I have several photo excursions to post, just have avoided the edit thing. Friedhelm and I went to the coast the last Thursday. Our first stop was Point Lobos State Reserve. We walked in from the highway, a nice less than a mile hike on a paved trail. Along the trail were a number of fungi. Is it a mushroom or toadstool? The names are apparently interchangeable and there is no clear scientific distinction. Commonly anything edible is considered a mushroom and poisonous a toadstool.  We were lucky that there weren't a lot of tourists, however as every photographer knows, THERE'S ALWAYS THAT ONE, who gets in the way. The day was a little overcast and gloomy but it's still a great place to photograph I thought the dead trees, brush and gloomy skies deserved black and white in this one. I went to Point Lobos and Asilomar with Friedhelm the other day. We were lucky, the weather was great and the waves weren't too bad either. I'll be posting some 'non-wave' photos pretty soon. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Went to Half Moon Bay on the Central California Coast  the other day. Here's a few of my shots.  The waves were wonderful The power of even a small wave always amazes me. The Central California Coast is the best. Your choice of beaches or waves crashing on rocks. The motion of the waves can be very interesting. Here are a trio of the locals. Did you notice two don't have right legs. Not a  Photoshop trick. I checked a couple of other photograph and yep, they're missing those legs.  I spotted this couple enjoying a walk on the beach. While waiting for the pending sunset I took this at low tide.   I like the texture of the foreground as much as the clouds and sky. Everything seems to draw your eye to the horizon and the promise of a great sunset. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Went to the coast again, this time with my friends Friedhelm and his wife Nancy.   I didn't set up this shot. The feather was just there. I like the contrast of the jumble of colorful seaweed against the neutral grain of the rock, with the feather being the icing on the cake.  Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

I took a trip to the Central Coast south of Carmel. The coastal fog got heavier the farther south I went. This was taken just a few miles north of the Point Lobos State Park. Go, See, Enjoy!
