Yosemite and More

I went to Yosemite a while back with the intent of photographing a moonrise and wildflowers. Well the clouds didn't cooperate nor did the wildflowers,  but the day was far from a loss.  It is Yosemite you know. And yes there is a lot of water in Yosemite and the Merced River.  It's been a while since I photographed Fern Springs Mother nature has a way of recovering.  Here is a new cedar against a downed and burned log. The Firs and Pine don't want to be left out.   Bridal Veil Creek was flowing very nicely. As were Upper, Middle and Lower Yosemite Falls. This seasonal waterfall along with many others will be gone is a few weeks I've take quite a few photos from Tunnel View. I took a ride up Highway 41 and had decided to bypass it on the way back until I saw this. I was lucky 20 minutes later the Rainbow was gone. Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph. Dave

 I went to Yosemite the other day just after a small snow storm. While there I visited the Ansel Adams Museum and it remined me of the power of Black and White.  I don't claim to have the talent of Ansel Adams but I like how these turned out.  Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

 Went to Yosemite the other day because I read that the Dogwoods were in bloom.  YES they were. Bloom is actually the wrong word since what we see as petals are actually specialized leaves,  pretty none the less. And of course in Yosemite there's more beauty than just Dogwoods.  I was surprised at how many people there were, mostly couples and very few children.  As you may know the Merced River is very high. My guess is when I got there it was about a foot or more below it's recent peak. The 'Paparazzi' Bridge was closed off as were other areas near the river. This is the Swinging Bridge, you can see how high the river is. I was thinking about photoshopping the people on the bridge but I like their reflections in the water. I really liked the contrast of the Dogwood and the log and brush. Not sure the name of this bridge (duh), but the sign says "No Crossing Water on Bridge".  That gives you some idea of how high the river got. I would have taken a better ...

 Went to Yosemite the other day to relax and take a few photos. On the way up the Redbud was in full bloom. I don't think I've see so much of it.  However it's ending soon, so get going if you want to experience it. Fern Springs is always a good place to photograph. This coyote barely moved.  The fog in the valley was really getting to me so I decided to take trip to Yosemite.  On the way up I took these. They're doing work on the electrical lines to Yosemite. Because of the rough terrain helicopters are needed. That thing below, and hanging  from the helicopter is a guy in a harness, just sitting there swinging  with the breeze. Remember this is taken with a telephoto lens and then cropped. He was way up there. Just when I was entering the Valley I stopped to do some photography and a gentlemen informed me there was a bear near-by. Black bears can be anything from cinnamon colored to completely black.  This is a small one eating oak acorns. I was wondering if any of the fall colors would still be showing. I needn't have worried, Yosemite is always beautiful but fall colors are special. I asked this gentleman if I could photograph him painting  near where I had just photographed.
