Flowers in my front yard

Image
Took a little photo walk around my front yard this evening. Spring has really begun to spring. Some flowers I don't know the name of and some I guessed. But I don't think the real important part is the name.  Hope you enjoy. If you look closely you can see the only bee I saw. With all these beautiful blooms this bee liked the Rosemary the best. I believe this to be an Iris, it is certainly one of my favorites, today anyway Not sure what these are. They're volunteers along the fence though I don't see any on my neighbors side!!?? These seem almost unworldly iridescent.  But they really do have that quality/ These are similar to the red ones. Still don't know their name. Simple blue Daisy Blue Columbine, just planted these, wish me luck. Another one I just planted. Mini Carnations While California Poppies are beautiful they produce a lot of seeds and I spend a lot of time trying to keep them under control. Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

My Yard

Image
Hello, If anyone is still out there I apologize for the long delay. I had back trouble for many months which limited my mobility. About two months ago I finally had back surgery, however the doctor says that I need to limit my movements. I'm not allowed to bend, lean, or twist, nor lift no more than 10 lbs.. Anyway the little photography I've done is in my yard and one trip to the Merced Wildlife Refuge which I'll post later. The following photos are from my yard as I've said, some where taken through windows, some with a macro lens.  Just a couple of the different flowers that are presently blooming in my yard. With spring arriving there should be a lot more color to come. I've had these succulents for several years, never had them bloom. The flowers themselves are about the size or a dime. Went out this morning to chase the cats away from my bird feeders and happened to see the first ladybugs of the season. ...

Iris'

Image
With the drought that is taking place in the Central Valley most lawns are looking pretty bad. Though I have to say some of my flowering plants seem to be doing pretty well without much additional water. I like this second one with the but up in the top left corner. Your eye misses it at first. Go, See, Enjoy! Dave

Honeysuckle

Image
I planted this honeysuckle vine over a year ago. Last year...nothing. This year..... Actually the vine is covered with flowers. I chose to photograph just these two for aesthetic reasons. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Just a Yellow Flower

Image
They're everywhere.   I've taken plenty of shots of this type of flower. Why not they're everywhere. I like the soft backlighting from the evening sun. Your eye immediately goes to the flower then you discover the seedpod on the lower right. Go, See, Enjoy Dave

Oleander

Image
Hey, I'm back. I'm going to try and post weekly from now on. Hope I can get out and about to take some photographs. I'm not a fan of Oleanders, but I like how this one turned out.   I actually took this in the middle of Chowchilla, you never know when you'll find something to photograph. Go, See, Enjoy! Dave

Patient Spider

Image
Old paint and spiders, oooooohhhh  While walking around Chowchilla I found this very patient spider. It took me a while  to get a good image without my tripod and it was getting dark. I like how the paint behind the spider is out of focus but becomes clear as your eye moves up the image. It also gives you some indication of how far away the spider was from the paint.  I wish I could have gotten the spider web but it was just too fine and the light was at the wrong angle, though this way it seems to be floating. Go, See, Enjoy.......Even if it is an old door with crackly paint. Dave

Valley Grapes

Image
I took this earlier (duh) this year and had forgotten all about it. Who knows you may drink the wine made from these grapes, after it's properly aged.....it could happen. Go, See, Enjoy Dave

Tracks in the Fog

Image
The valley is known for it's tule fog. Not sure what to say about this photo except I like it. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Fire Hydrant

Image
My tag line is 'Go, See, Enjoy'! Sometimes it's only a few blocks from your house. I like the lines and shadow of this hydrant taken in the early morning light. Hope you........Go, See, Enjoy! Dave

Chowchilla Sunset

Image
One of the characteristics of Chowchilla CA is there seems to be power lines everywhere.  Sometimes they get in the way, this time I like how they cross the trees and seem to mimic the layers of color in the sunset. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave
