Wawona Pioneer Village Museum

Image
Few photos from the Wawona Pioneer Museum. Never been there before mostly because it's off Highway 41 which is the long way and I don't like the drive. Go, See, Enjoy, Stay Safe and Photograph Dave

Macro Veggies

Image
As my retirement gift to myself I bought a  Tokina AT_X Pro  100mm F2.8  Macro. For one reason or another I haven't been doing as much photography as I had planned. Hope to change that soon. Anyway here's my first 'publishable' photos  using my new lens. I decided to start with a bell pepper. Lit from behind with an LED flashlight, and window light across the front. I was impressed with how sharp this lens is  I did learn something about photographing vegetables.... Be sure you wash them first. Saves a lot of time with the spot  healing brush. Next I tried an onion.  Once again lit from behind with an LED.  A sharp knife and a steady hand is s big help. When I bought it I had the idea of  a perfectly symmetrical photograph. Turns out I like the lopsided one. Go, See, Enjoy,  or photograph in your spare bedroom. Whatever....... Dave

Droste Clock

Image
Found a neat filter add-in for Photo Shop. This started out as the clock on my mantle. Using the Droste filter I was able to manipulate it into this spiral effect. Kinda cool don't you think. Go, See, Enjoy, Explore Dave

Patient Spider

Image
Old paint and spiders, oooooohhhh  While walking around Chowchilla I found this very patient spider. It took me a while  to get a good image without my tripod and it was getting dark. I like how the paint behind the spider is out of focus but becomes clear as your eye moves up the image. It also gives you some indication of how far away the spider was from the paint.  I wish I could have gotten the spider web but it was just too fine and the light was at the wrong angle, though this way it seems to be floating. Go, See, Enjoy.......Even if it is an old door with crackly paint. Dave

Wagon Chain

Image
This chain caught my eye. I like the lines and the texture of the two kinds of wood and the loop of chain. Even though the photograph is cut in half by the prominent center grain of the board, the chain crossing it and the board on the left negate this composition faux pas. Go, See, Enjoy! Dave

The Broom, Bodie

Image
If you like real Ghost Towns, not a amusement park, but a representation of history go to Bodie, CA. Bodie is a State Park now and is preserved in 'controlled decay' just as it was when everyone up and left. Go, See, Enjoy. Dave

Old Yosemite

Image
Yosemite wasn't always a National Park. At one time it was a commercial enterprise and has gone through many changes over the years. This is a little bit of that left over past. This eye bolt caught my eye as I was heading back to my truck. What it was used for I can only guess.  Go, See, Enjoy!
